Next year's repertoire looks as much back at ballet and company tradition as it does forward in exciting ways. The Melbourne season opens in March, with two ballets, Petrouchka and Firebird, originally commissioned by Diaghilev, choreographed by Fokine and scored by Stravinsky, and the return of Les Sylphides. "We started the Russes tribute with Sylphides and it's nice closing the circle to bring it back," McAllister says.

This is a ballet that I would love to see, Les Sylphides, Firebird, Petrouchka. :):):) Now if this will be shown in the Melbourne Arts Centre, Then I will think of getting tickets. :roll:

The Australian has an extensive article previewing the Ballets Russes evening, with particular attention given to Graeme Murphy's "The Firebird." The program also includes "Petrouchka" and "Les Sylphides." The tour opens in Adelaide February 24-28 and is then scheduled for Melbourne (March 13-24) and Sydney (April 2-22).
