Hi Jeff - I looked on the HK Ballet website, but they don't mention the pieces. I'll see if we can find out.

I e-mailed Hong Kong Ballet on this matter and here is their response:

*******************************

Dear Stuart,

Thanks for your enquiry. The Mixed Bill programme in October is now named "Balanchine & Beyond" which include two Balanchine works 'Theme and Variations" and "Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux". The production is staged by our Artistic Director John Meehan. Attached is the programme information for your reference. You may know more about our company and our Artistic Director on Hong Kong Ballet website: www.hkballet.com

Should you need any further information, please let me know.

Regards,
Caroline Cheung
Marketing Officer

I have asked one follow-up question regarding who is setting the work for the Balanchine Trust.

thanks. I wish they will do two major pieces. To my taste, Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux is not a typical Balanchine. it has some interesting sections. But I think it's more suited for ABT dancers to show off their jumps and turns.

Many thanks to Hong Kong Ballet for this response to my follow-up question:

Dear Stuart,

As Balanchine Trust knows John Meehan (former Artistic Director of ABT
Studio Company) to stage the Balanchine works, so it is not necessary to
assign representative from Balanchine Trust to set the works. On the other
hand, we have invited Merrill Ashley (former Principal Dancer with New York
City Ballet who has worked with Balanchine) to be the Guest Teacher /
Repetiteur for the two Balanchine works.

Hope this would answer your question.
