Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal
26 - 27 Nov 2001, 8pm.
Kallang Theatre, Singapore
http://www.sistic.com.sg/tkevents/montreal.htm
Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal has performed to an audience of almost 2 million in 58 countries spread over 5 continents. They are often called "The world's favourite dance company."
Under the artistic direction of Louis Robatiaille, LBJ today draws on its extraordinary legacy of jazz ballet and modern dance, creating works of high energy, virtuosity and spontaneous passion. The use of jazz based music allows a freedom and intensity that has delighted audiences around the world.
The full company of Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal will perform a new programme in Singapore:
Programme
Two Dances for Jane by Crystal Pite
Sous le rhythme, je... by Patrick Delcroix
Floating World by Nocolo Fonte
Lulling High by Dominique Dumais
No Strings Attached by Mia Michaels

[This message has been edited by Malcolm Tay (edited October 05, 2001).]

Malcolm, many thanks for posting this. BJM as they sometimes call themselves may be the most improved dance company in the world.
About 7 years ago they came to London and received some very poor reviews. Yet when they came back about 2 years ago they were a very dynamic and interesting group who gave me ine of my best dance evenings of the year.
One of the problems is knowing where to put them on the site. Having thought it through again, I am moving your post to 'Modern Dance' which given their basic mix of Jazz and modern probably comes closest to the 'right' place for them. Hope this is OK.
We have another BJM thread here:
http://www.criticaldance.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000908.html
