Evans opens door to a new era August 30 2002 The Age The Australian Ballet's new general manager has his sights on the future. Jo Roberts reports. It's busy days for the Australian Ballet. Yesterday the company launched its 2003 season program, last night it opened its latest show, United! at the State Theatre, and amid all this, it has inducted a new general manager. He's now into week two, but three days into his new job as general manager of the AB, Richard Evans had already been on the phone to his predecessor, Ian McRae. "I rang Ian on Monday and said 'I'm sitting with my feet under the desk and I'm slopping around in those big boots of yours'," says Evans. Certainly, McRae's are big shoes to fill, having been the AB's general manager for 10 years. More...
