Cloudland ballet still up in the air

THE world premiere of a new ballet based on Brisbane's iconic Cloudland ballroom is one of the most anticipated events of the Brisbane Festival. But four weeks away from opening night, Cloudland the ballet does not exist.

In the Brisbane Festival program, Cloudland is listed as running for 80 minutes without an interval, offering "a wonderfully entertaining night out full of music, dance and memories".

While the costumes and sets are well under way, Queensland Ballet's artistic director, Francois Klaus, has not begun to choreograph the work.
