CHEAH UI-HOON reports on the plans to pay tribute to him.
THEY buried my body and they thought I'd gone,
but I am the dance and I still go on
He might have passed on in relative obscurity last December, but choreographer and male dance specialist Tony Llacer's colleagues, friends and former students are determined not to let him slip away as quietly as he lived his life here.
Even as a memorial service for Llacer takes place today in the Philippines, Tammy Wong of Tammy Wong Dance Company will dedicate this season's performance, held tonight and tomorrow night, to the Filipino artist who was her ballet teacher. And plans are underway, by his other former students and closest associates, to put on a proper tribute performance sometime in July.

'He taught me ballet throughout my teenage years, when I first started ballet at 11. He gave me a new language to communicate in, and has influenced my choreography and how I weave movement together,' says Wong.
Dubbed an 'unsung hero' by many dancers who have worked with him in his 23 years here, Llacer, 70, who died after suffering from poor health, is described by all as someone who is retiring and humble to the point of shyness and not one to hog the limelight.

<A HREF="http://business-times.asia1.com.sg/thearts/story/0,2276,36777,00.html?"
