A message from Jennifer Jackson:
I am making a new ballet "Unwrapped",
which will be performed as part of an evening of ballet based choreography, White - a winter collection of dance curated by Beatriz Pascal under the umbrella of Atelier.
Five choreographers were invited to respond to a title - white - and consider dancing on pointe.
Performances are at the MUSIC ROOM, 26 South Molton Lane, W1 (Tube: Bond Street)
Saturday 11th November (8pm) and Sunday 12th November (3 and 8pm).
Tickets from firstname.lastname@example.org
or Tel: 07726 438110.
Audience capacity is limited - 100 with 20 standing.
Unwrapped is for 3 dancers aged between 60 and 17 - Ann Dickie (ex Rambert, Director From here to maturity) Bethany Elliott (trained at RBS, freelance) and Rym Kechacha (in her 2nd year of study at Central Ballet School). Shima Kobayashi is playing the chromatic harmonica and bells. Costumes are made by Lucy Wilson.
A little background:
This ballet started with the given theme for the evening of works: ' White'. Being ever curious about the long, strong ballet roots into the nineteenth century and reasons for rising on to pointe, we began our choreographic journey looking at the 'White' Act - specifically at fragments of movement and ideas from Giselle Act 2. From there I chose to focus on specific themes - wanting and having to dance, promise and promises.
I do hope you want to come and see.
