Jann Parry and David Dougill give us their weekly round-up articles of dance in London. Parry has some reservations about The Kirov 'R&J', but David Dougill separates the experience from the MacMillan version and enjoys the Kirov on its own terms.
Also covered in both articles are various performances of the Royal's 'Giselle' by Sir Peter Wright. As always there is a lot of praise for this magical production. It does show how good the Royal can be with works that are well established in the rep. Tamara Rojo's debut and the departure of Bruce Sampson and Rosalind Eyre feature strongly. Another dancer receiving greater attention these days is the tall and elegant First Soloist, Zenaida Yanovsky, who is maturing into a chilling Myrtha.

http://www.observer.co.uk/Print/0,3858,4048144,00.html

http://www.sunday-times.co.uk/news/pages/sti/00/08/06/sticulthr02002.html

[This message has been edited by Stuart Sweeney (edited August 06, 2000).]
