Cathy Marston, one of the brightest hopes in the UK ballet choreography world, has just started writing a diary for ballet.co. She is also a fine dancer and a regular contributor to Dance Europe magazine. All round a talented and very charming lady.
Here's the first part of her diary, where she talks about her background in dance. I'll post links to the forthcoming sections as they appear.
http://www.ballet.co.uk/magazines/yr_00/dec00/cathy_marston_1.htm
Image
A dance panorama advertising the Clore Studio by Chris Nash.

Here is a link to the programme Cathy is making in the Clore Studio at the ROH next February.
http://www.roh.org.uk/Performances/LST/NewSpaces/CloreEvents.htm
Finally, here's a round-up article, which has a very favourable review by David Dougill of 'Tidelines' her last piece for the RB Dance Bites tour. I agree with Dougill that the final pdd was stunning.

http://www.sunday-times.co.uk/news/pages/sti/99/03/07/sticuldnc02002.html?1376249

[This message has been edited by Stuart Sweeney (edited December 23, 2000).]

Here's Cathy Marston's December Diary - a very busy time for her both with dancing and choreographing:
http://www.ballet.co.uk/magazines/yr_01/jan01/cathy_marston_2.htm
[This message has been edited by Stuart Sweeney (edited January 06, 2001).]

Here's the next part of Cathy Marston's diary. The balance of the reviews for her Cohabitants piece was very positive.
http://www.ballet.co.uk/magazines/yr_01/mar01/cathy_marston_3.htm

A nice e-mail from the clever and charming Cathy Marston, who has some interesting work being showcased over the coming weeks. And she has just garnered a lot of praise for her first full-length work 'Ballet Shoes' made on The London Children's Ballet at the Peacock Theatre. Here are some reviews from ballet.co.uk:
http://www.danze.co.uk/dcforum/happening/1680.html
And here's her e-mail:
Sorry for the self-promotion but I just wanted to let you know about a couple of productions I've got coming up in the next few weeks...
Next thursday (24th May) is the premiere of 'Amaterasu, The Sun Goddess' at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. This is an Anglo-Japanese production involving dance, music and drama from both cultures. I've choreographed sections on twelve male dancers and four females dancers - ex RB, ENB, CBL, K Ballet etc. I think the evening should be very interesting. The drumming is amazing as are the Japanese performers. The performances are the 24/25 May at 7.30 and the 26th at 2.30. You can book on 020 7494 5094.
Images of Dance, the classical company of the London Studio Centre, will start it's tour in Swindon on June 5th. The programme includes a new ballets from Chistopher Hampson, Wahne Sleep and myself. My piece is called Rosemary for Remembrance and with a cast of twenty, is inspired by the relationship of Ophelia and Hamlet.
The Images tour is as follows...
Wyvern Theatre, Swindon 5th June
Grand Opera HOuse, York. 14th June
Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage. 18th June Grand Theatre, Swansea. 22nd June
Wycombe Swan, High Wycombe. 14th June
The Playhouse, Harlow. June 30th
Key Theatre, Peterborough. 2nd July
Peacock Theatre, London. 5th July
The Playhouse, Western-super-Mare. 12th July
The Hexagon, Reading. 16th July
It would be lovely if you could make either of these events and perhaps see you there!
Best wishes,
Cathy Marston

Phew! What a busy lady and she dances in the Henri Oguike Company.

That looks like a very interesting programme - must try and get along.
I'm so sad I missed "Ballet Shoes" but glad it got good reviews.
