'Inthe Middle, Somewhat Elevated' part of the POB programme, but performed here by
Ballett Frankfurt

Paris Opera Ballet rises to the challenges set by William Forsythe. Clement Crisp adores the dancers and finds some of the work a revelation. POB have forged an alliance with Forsythe over 12 years, which has paid dividends big time.

Eurostar beckons.

Quote:
The great joy of the evening, though, is the splendid Pas/Parts that Forsythe made for the troupe last year. It is a cascade, a tidal-wave of dances - solos, duets, ensembles - that pour out, overlap, rush onwards, and show just what clarity and brilliancy of execution the Opera dancers can provide....it [a particular solo] also sums up the 50 years in which choreographers have sought to extend and refresh the academic language.
Clement Crisp's review

Stuart, you should certainly make more trips to Paris by Eurostar.

when I met him once, Clement Crisp told me that he tries to go to POB once a month. He certainly loves the Company dearly and gets a great deal out of his trips there.<P>They certainly set very high standards in performance and commissionning new work. Think of the number of companies world-wide who benefit from having 'In the Middle...' in their rep.<P>

Stuart, I see. I saw this same Forsythe programme in Paris 18 months ago.<P>Note from Stuart:<P>Kevin made some interesting additional comments here about having a section for French speakers. I have taken the liberty of moving these comments and grace's response to a dedicated topic.<BR> <A HREF="http://www.criticaldance.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000065.html" TARGET=_blank>http://www.criticaldance.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000065.html</A> <p>[This message has been edited by Stuart Sweeney (edited November 17, 2000).]
