"...they had observed 14 people unlawfully dancing..." Unlawful dancing - which circle of Hell does that condemn you to?

Am I the only CD member old enough to recall the "No Sunday Dancing" signs that were posted in bars in Massachusettes--yes, even in Provincetown? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that No Sunday Dancing was the cornerstone of the Crimes Against Chastity statute in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that when I was a young'un forbid individuals of opposite sexes from cohabiting. Credible evidence of prosecutable "lewd and lascivious cohabitation" could be the presence of a pair of men's shoes in a woman's closet. On a more serious note, this omnibus statute at one time also forbid contraception and abortion. Talk about fox-trotting down the primrose path...

Indonesians Argue Over Pop Star's Dance

Charming and beautiful, Lynden (a town founded by Dutch immigrants) in our fair and progressive state of Washington, banned public dancing a few years ago. When I visit this community, I am SO tempted to go a dancin' down the sidewalk. Perhaps something from "Swan Lake" or even better, maybe a Forsyth work. Oooo, how the silly part of me is getting ready to shake, shake, shake. ;)

Dean, I'd hate to see you in jail! Speaking of which, I hope Inul won't be arrested:

Bar dancers feel the pinch as politicians declare party is over
From Catherine Philp in Bombay for The Times

IT IS midnight in Bombay and on the dance floor the slender girl in heavy make-up closes her eyes as she arches her back and mouths the words of the Hindi pop song as the lights bounce off her sequinned costume.

From his faux-leather couch the customer looks on intently, his eyes flickering across her body as he clutches his beer. He hands over a wad of notes to a waiter, who holds it above the dancer’s head before letting the notes flutter down around her as she dances, smiling gracefully at her benefactor.
