I teach a class for choreographers at Sonoma State University, on dance/music collaboration. We use Sally Banes' excellent article on the subject from her book Writing Dancing in the Age of Postmodernism, which surveys the subject up through the 1980's. I would LOVE to find readings for my class that continue this study into the present. Does anyone know of any such material? Or other writings on the subject that might be useful?

Thanks you,

Jesse Olsen Bay

Sounds very interesting! I would be interested in this topic as well. I hope you get a response. Please feel free to share any resources you may have as well. Thanks for posting, Jesse!

As the title suggests, it's ballet-oriented, but check out "Moving Music: Dialogues with Music in Twentieth Century Ballet" by Stephanie Jordan.
Published Jun 1, 2002.

Jordan is one of the leading academic authors on the subject.

No doubt her book is available from other sources, but here's a link to the US Amazon page: Moving Music.

And another by Jordan is "Stravinsky Dances".

On Amazon US here: Stravinsky Dances
