The only aspect of this sad story providing some consolation is that virtually all of the Israeli dancers at festivals I have met around Europe would, I am sure, be unreservedly disgusted by this incident.

I find consolation on a number of levels:
  1. If someone who posed no threat at all was subjected to this, then the people who did pose a threat didn't get through, either.
  2. Before 1967, Jews visiting the holy places in East Jerusalem were not subjected to such treatment -- because Jews weren't allowed access at all.
