Post subject:  Corpi Danzanti [Dancing Bodies] - Study Days

On September 14th, 15th and 16th 2007, I took part to the study days, "Corpi Danzanti - Culture, Tradizioni, Identità" [Dancing Bodies - Cultures, Traditions, Identities] dedicated to the memory of dance scholar and musician Giorgio Di Lecce, who prematurely died a few years ago. It was located in Martignano, near Lecce, Puglia, in the south of Italy, Di Lecce's native village. It was characterised by talks on Tarantism, African dance, dance notation, folk dresses and other aspects mainly dealing with folk dances, as well as practical workshops on two very interesting Italian folk dances, the saltarella from Abruzzo and the local pizzica pizzica. Here is the link to the full programme, unfortunately only in Italian:

One of my colleagues has told me that it would be better to translate 'danze popolari' with 'traditional dances' instead of 'folk dances'.
