Pensioner means testing at South Bank criticised

The South Bank Centre has come under heavy criticism for its plan to introduce means testing on concessionary tickets offered to pensioners from next month.

Currently anyone over 60 is entitled to discounted seats but from September 1 only pensioners who receive pension credit - the government’s tax scheme to aid those on lower incomes - will get reductions on events at South Bank Centre venues such as the Royal Festival Hall.
