Post subject:  Pay and conditions for dancers

Is this a concern to you? I have to say that I was shocked to hear that some of the leading modern/contemporary dancers in the UK have never earned more than £14,000 pa and that includes teaching work.

As part of Dance Umbrella, the seminar 'Paying for the Privilige' looked at this theme and brought in the views of specialists from outside the dance world. Jeanette Siddall, Director of Dance UK, the organisers, has written a summary of the discussions and is keen that to hear other voices. One of the advantages of being an international website is that we can introduce experiences from other countries.
