London theatres have recently been full of musical films which have been transferred to the stage like Saturday Night Fever, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and soon we are to have Mary Poppins. A stage version of Footloose is now on tour and we even have When Harry Met Sally moving from being a film to a play at the Haymarket. Even more so, Round the Horne… Revisited has moved from radio into the theatre and is packing them in. This month The Woman in White is to be presented as a musical based on Wilkie Collins’ book and the film.
