Every now and then, it is suggested that maybe dance companies should try harder to act like for-profit businesses. This could help increase salaries all-around, which would be welcomed by all.<P>Surely everyone agrees that a dance community the same as we have now but with more money for all would be an improvement.<P>However, that is probably not possible. Commercialization would likely change the way any dance company operates. It could influence artistic decisions large and small. It could change the way dancers and others relate to their company.<P>What changes do you think would take place? What existing institutions might we look to that have gone down this road? Do you think the changes would ultimately be good or bad for the art produced? Would they ultimately be good or bad for the dancers? <BR>
