International Scientific Practical Conference
December 15 - 18, 2000
“Visit”Agency, Fund for Development of Music and Dance, Musorgsky Opera
and Ballet Theatre, Russian Choreography Association and “Ballet”
magazine are intended to hold the International Scientific Practical
Conference “Education and Dance” in Saint-Petersburg between December 15
and 18, 2000. The Conference holding is planned within the frames of
The principals of the choreography chairs and the leading tuitors of
arts universities of Russia and CIS countries, secondary educational
institutions’ teachers, dance studios’ teachers for children and adults,
heads of the arts companies, choreographers, ballet and dance experts,
historians, students of the arts universities of Saint-Petersburg are to
become the participants of the conference.
Aims of the Conference:
- to present dance schools of the world, choreographers’ and dancers’
education and training systems, tendencies of the world educational
system for contemporary choreography /hereinafter referred as dance/;
- to contribute to the development of the discussion on the necessity of
creation of the system for the tuition of the choreographers and
training for dance technique, especially for various tendencies in
contemporary choreography, modern dance, jazz dance, contact
improvisation etc., at the state educational institutions of Russia and
- to attract the attention of the Russian experts to the problems of the
contemporary choreography’s development, to the creation of a new dance
forms and dance institutions in Russia and CIS countries.
Problems to be discussed at the Conference:
- the history of the world’s schools and systems for dance
- the tendencies of the development of schools and systems for dance
technique in the 21 century;
- the tendencies of contemporary choreogrphy’s development in the 21
- childern dance pedagogics and tuition methods;
- work with the disabled, including children;
- dance technique tuition methods;
- choreography as a profession;
- scientific research methodology for contemporary choreography.
Requirements to the reports:
One can participate in the Conference by:
- scientific report;
- illustrated lecture;
- as a discussion panel.
The required duration for the scientific report does not exceed 15
minutes, for the illustrated lecture - 60 minutes.
Working languages of the Conference are English and Russian.
To take part in the scientific conference one should adress the theses
/not exceeding 300 words/ and the bibliography list to the Scientific
Conference Committee before July 1, 2000. The Committee will report
about the results of the participants’ selection before August 1, 2000.
The theses of the scientific report should include the theme, research
methods’ description and the conclusion. The illustrating means to be
used should be mentioned also.
