My name is Aline Angéli, and I am a final year student from London South Bank University studying BA (Hons) Arts Management. I am currently carrying out research on collaborative practices and particularly collaborations between choreographers and visual artists for my final year dissertation, due at the beginning of April, and I am writing to you to ask for your help.

I am interested in exploring the collaboration between the choreographer and the visual artist in order to comprehend how artists choose each other, how the work is shared between artists, the decision-making process as well as the issues associated with authorship and the completion of the work.

I will be gratful to discuss those issues with choreographers, dancers, programmers, visual artists and artistic directors.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Welcome, Aline. A good place to start would be in your own Merrie England at London's Central School of Ballet, where dancers collaborate with students at Central St. Martin's School of Design. Both receive grades or evaluations on their projects. See upcoming issue of Dance Magazine for more info on this.

The project written about above is Called 'Design for Dance' Rambert School (alongside many others) are included. The theatre design students create costumes for pieces choreographed by the students at each respective school. I was in a piece which was chosen for the project. Unfortunally, we didn't get to keep the costumes they designed for us!!
