San children who dance for tourists 'being exploited' By SAHM VENTER IN HARTEBEESPOORT for Scotland on Sunday
SOUTH African authorities are investigating the plight of children who spend their days wearing skin loincloths and performing for tourists.
The boys, aged between five and 15, sing and dance and demonstrate the ancient crafts of their San ancestors, known to be one of the earliest indigenous groups in the southern African region.
Advertised as "Bushmen", a derogatory term for San and Khoi people, the children sit under a tree waiting for tourists to arrive so they can begin their act.
