At the 6th international internet dance festival SideBySide-net 2010 (August-November 2010), artists get the unique opportunity to present their work on an interdisciplinary and intercultural platform and to a broad international audience for a longer period of time. The audience’s favourite artists (watch&vote-principle) receive prizes summing up to 3.000 Euro. Crucial criteria for nominations are the quality of dance, an individual style, and an innovative realisation of an interesting topic.

CAVE SUBSIDIZED STUDIO SHARE RESIDENCY OPEN CALL

CAVE, one of Williamsburg’s longest-running experimental art spaces, hosts year-long subsidized studio share residency to five individual/groups. Through this residency, CAVE aims to provide an arena for artistic exploration to the local community of dancers, choreographers, interdisciplinary artists, and body-workers, all who seek the space to create and share their work.

ABOUT THE RESIDENCY

The next CAVE Subsidized Studio Share Residency begins September 1, 2010. For a flat monthly fee of $270 USD, CAVE Subsidized Studio Share Resident artists receive: up to twelve hours per week of rehearsal/private class space; bi-monthly inclusion of their activities on CAVE’s e-mail newsletter; access to Material for the Arts supplies; and the use of one small camcorder and one video projector (in-studio use only).

ABOUT THE STUDIO

This studio space is 450 square feet with 16 foot – 11 foot ceilings. It has a sprung, black marley floor, a private dressing area and an adjacent restroom. It is equipped with a stereo system (CD player and IPod hook-up). The space is heated during the winter and has fans for the summer, as well as skylights. Chosen artists will be responsible for self-management and keeping the studio clean.

10 international dance artists will be selected for a 3-week collaborative residency. Culminating in 2 INFORMAL showings at the Omi campus and in New York City, the most unique aspect of this program is it’s gently facilitated process that emphasizes exploration and collaboration, not performance. Professional Dancer/Choreographers of ALL styles (Modern, Ballet, Improv, Ethnic Dance, etc), who have the desire to share ideas and process with dancers from around the world, should apply. It is recommended that applicants do not have specific projects in mind, but come open to working with others on jointly conceived projects. It is also imperative that all applicants have a genuine openness to collaborating with artists of different dance backgrounds.
Selected residents receive FREE room, board, and studio space at Omi’s 300-acre facility & Sculpture Park (please note: Omi is UNABLE to provide travel funds)

There are so many opportunities with dancing and singers. One who have interest in this performing arts they don't have to worry about career. There are so many reality shows in which you can participate and talent hunt show. By this you can earn good and handsome income.

The Dance Omi International Dance Collective is now accepting applications for its Summer 2013 Residency! Each summer, the Dance Omi International Dance Collective invites 10 international dance artists to upstate New York for three weeks of artistic and cultural exchange. This year’s residency will take place August 6-26, 2013 on the grounds of the Omi International Arts Center in Ghent, New York.

Under the direction of Dance Omi Director Christopher K. Morgan and an alumni Guest Mentor, a group of highly accomplished, diverse dance artists will experiment, create, and collaborate in a facilitated, supportive setting. Although the Residency will include informal showings, it does not emphasize the creation of a final performance product; instead, it emphasizes the process of experimentation and collaboration.

More information, guidelines and the online application for the 2013 Dance Omi International Dance Collective can be found at: http://www.artomi.org/dance.php. The deadline to submit applications for the Summer 2013 Residency is February 1, 2013. Notification will take place in mid-March.

Professional dancers and choreographers of all styles who wish to collaborate with other artists from around the world are encouraged to apply. The contest is directed to the contemporary dance artists from the European countries.

New Horror/Comedy TV Series Now Casting

"Zombieland", an upcoming TV series from Sony Television, is now casting starring roles for its first season which begins production in Late February.

From the producer of "Curb Your Enthusiasm", this series will be based on the hit 2009 thriller movie about the survivors of a zombie apocalypse who travel across the country to find a sanctuary.

"Zombieland" is being written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who also wrote the original feature film from Sony Pictures.

The show will be produced by Gavin Polone, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick for Sony Television and Amazon.

["Tallahassee"], any ethnicity, 40s - 50s. Tallahassee is an adventurous, irreverent, cocky, and intelligent guy who loves to break the rules and take chances. He is an expert zombie killer and has a charming quality to him that many women find appealing. CO-STARRING ROLE

Dramatic Feature Film "The Judge" Now Casting for Spring

"The Judge", a major upcoming movie from Warner Brothers Pictures, is now casting co-starring roles for production which begins in Late May.

From the director of "Wedding Crashers", this dramatic movie will be about a slick big-city attorney who returns to his rural hometown for his mother's funeral only to discover that his senile father is a murder suspect.

"The Judge" will star Robert Downey Jr. The movie was written by Nick Schenk and Bill Dubuque, and it will be directed by David Dobkin.

The movie is being produced by Susan Downey and David Gambino for Big Kid Pictures and Team Downey in association with Warner Brothers Pictures.

["Dale Palmer"], Caucasian, African-American, or Latino, 20s. Dale is a rumpled but charming, eccentric, and somewhat troubled guy who still lives in the small town where he was born. ["C.P. Kennedy"], any ethnicity, 30s. C.P. Kennedy is a down-to-earth, clean-cut, and well-intentioned small-town lawyer who comes from humble roots. He is a genuinely unassuming and nice guy----but these qualities sometimes make it difficult for him to fight hard enough in a courtroom setting. CO-STARRING ROLE

["Glen"], Caucasian, 40s. Glen is a lethargic, downtrodden, and mildly depressed man who runs an auto parts shop in a small town. He was once an up-and-coming sports star when he was younger, but an accident on the field forced him to drop out of sports. PRINCIPLE ROLE

["Dwight Dickham"], any ethnicity, 40s - 50s. Dwight is a stern, hard-nosed, and ruthless lawyer who is the prosecuting attorney in the murder case against Judge Palmer. He seems to be a well-mannered gentleman at first, but when he's arguing in the courtroom he will stop at nothing to put Judge Palmer behind bars. CO-STARRING ROLE

Thriller Movie "Left Behind" Now Casting for April

"Left Behind", an upcoming movie from Samuel Goldwyn Films, is now casting co-starring roles for production which begins in April.

From the producer of "Romance and Cigarettes", this action movie will be about a group of people who struggle to survive in the aftermath of a natural disaster which has mysteriously removed people from Earth.

"Left Behind" will star Nicolas Cage and Ashley Tisdale. The movie was written by Paul Lalonde and John Patus, and it will be directed by Vic Armstrong.

She is very protective of her daughter Katie and would do anything to shield her from harm. Shasta is traveling with Katie on a plane when suddenly her little daughter vanishes. Shasta begins to panic. CO-STARRING ROLE

["Hattie Durham"], any ethnicity, 20s - 30s. Hattie is a pretty, glamorous, and confident woman who is a stewardess for a major commercial airline. She has a very wry sense of humor and a sharp intellect. She meets a pilot named Ray and they get along right off the bat. Hattie begins to have feelings for Ray and they make plans to get together when they reach Europe. But during the flight a horrible crisis begins to take place. CO-STARRING ROLE

["Irene Steele"], Caucasian or African-American, 40s - 50s. Irene is an old-fashioned, loyal and dignified woman who is very religious. She has attended church regularly for years and strongly believes in biblical scripture. Irene is married to an airline pilot named Ray. What Irene doesn't know is that her husband Ray is considering cheating on her with a flight attendant. PRINCIPLE ROLE

["Edwin"], any ethnicity, 18 - Late 20s. Edwin is a highly intelligent, clean-cut, "fashionably geeky", and articulate college grad who suddenly finds himself thrust into a situation in which the normal rules of science no longer apply. He is traveling on an airplane when suddenly many of the passengers inexplicably disappear. Edwin begins to freak out, and he must question all of the science he has ever learned in order to get a handle on what is happening. CO-STARRING ROLE

["Bruce Barnes"], any ethnicity, 30s - 40s. Bruce is a stoic, self-disciplined, and humble man who has a polite and respectful way of dealing with people. He is deeply religious, and he has dedicated his life to being a pastor at a church. Bruce originally comes a small town, and his old-fashioned manners clearly come from his upbringing. He presides over the congregation at the church that Irene Steele regularly attends. CO-STARRING ROLE

["Melvin Weir"], Caucasian, 40s. Melvin is a tormented soul. He is a proud yet embittered, self-reliant yet troubled, and hard-working yet hot-tempered man who is furious over the loss of his job. He has a history of taking out his anger on other people----and when his fellow passengers starts vanishing on his plane flight, Melvin attempts to blame the phenomenon on a Middle Eastern passenger. ["Dennis Beese"], Caucasian or African-American, 50s. Dennis is a highly-respected, blunt, and powerful petroleum executive from Houston who is both revered and feared by his colleagues in the oil business. CALL FOR NOMINATIONS | 2014 Jadin Wong Award for Emerging Asian American Dancer

DESCRIPTION

This is the first year that the Jadin Wong Award for Emerging Asian American Dancer will be presented. This award is administered by the Asian American Arts Alliance with funding from the New York Community Trust. This award is a tribute to the life and work of renowned Chinese American actress, dancer, and comedienne Jadin Wong. Since her teenage years, Ms. Wong had been a pioneer and innovator of Asian American performing arts.

The inaugural award is intended to recognize one emerging Asian American dancer whose work shows strong potential for greater achievement and hopes to make a significant impact on the Asian American artistic community as a whole. The award aims to recognize exemplary work that will continue to inspire young artists and the Asian American community for years to come. There is a cash award of $3,000 to provide educational assistance, training, and support for a young person of Asian descent with limited financial means to help them achieve their career as a dancer.

This cash award is intended to be used for “Professional Development” (see below), but not for undergraduate or graduate tuition fees. Priority consideration will be given to young dancers not currently enrolled in university programs.

ELIGIBILITY

The Asian American Arts Alliance will receive nominations for this award. You may NOT nominate yourself.

The nominee MUST:
be of Asian American decent
be an emerging dancer between 18-25 years of age
be based in any of the five boroughs in New York City
have at least five years of experience in dance
hope to make a significant impact on the Asian American artistic community through his or her work
show potential for greater future artistic achievement in dance

Current Alliance staff and board members, as well as immediate family members of the Alliance staff and board are not eligible.

DEADLINE

Phase I nomination forms must be submitted electronically by 11:59pm EST on Friday, March 21, 2014.

NOTIFICATION
Nominees will be notified by March 26, 2014, for invitation to submit letter of intent and work samples if they advance to Phase II of the application process. A winner will be announced the week of May 12, 2014.
