CriticalDance.com is proud to be a supporter of National Dance Week 2003, which takes place in the U.S. from Friday, April 24th to Sunday, May 4th. In addition to a financial contribution, CriticalDance.com has also committed to promoting and publicizing the week-long observation and all its related activities.
According to the National Dance Week web site
, "The Coalition for National Dance Week was formed in 1981 by a group of dance related organizations who began a strong grass roots movement across the United States to bring greater recognition to dance as an art form."
NDW remains a grass roots movement, with volunteer effort by individuals from all walks of life, but with events now numbering in the thousands across the United States. It serves the dual purpose of not only bringing attention to the art form but also fostering bonds within the dance community.
So, we invite you to post your events, impressions, previews and reviews in this forum or to email your listings to email@example.com" target="_blank. Remember, CriticalDance.com receives several thousand visits a day worldwide. We encourage you to spread the word to everyone in or outside the dance community, with this easy to remember web address:
Besides the parent National Dance Week, we would like to mention that CriticalDance.com is also sponsoring two related events within National Dance Week:
- The Retail Dance Festival
. CriticalDance.com was a financial supporter of the inaugural Retail Dance Festival and we are delighted to continue this tradition.
- The Isadora Duncan Dance Awards (Izzies) Ceremony
. CriticalDance.com appreciates the opportunity to underwrite the reception.
Finally, we would like to thank the following individuals for their cooperation in CriticalDance.com's support for NDW, RDF and the Izzies:
- Patricia Goulding, Executive Director of National Dance Week;
- Kim Shipp, Artistic Director of Shipp Dance Theatre, producer of the Retail Dance Festival;
- Rachel Howard, Dance Critic and Member of the Isadora Duncan Dance Awards Committee.
Let's get the word out!
