In San Jose, dressing the part is as important as having the right moves

Out at the check stand in the lobby sat a lonely fedora with a ticket in its hatband. For all we know, it could have been the only hat belonging to anybody in the audience at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday night, where, to be sure, some people were dressed as if they might be fixing to ride in the two Bentleys parked out front by the evening's opening-night gala sponsor, but others wore dirty jeans.
