The leotard- and pink tights-wearing young "gingersnap cookies" poured out of the "cookie jar" with kicking pink-slippered feet and bunned hair.

"I don't see teeth," Alameda Civic Ballet founder and artistic director Abra Rudisill reminded the young ballerinas while ushering them, "small to tall" into their respective places during a recent rehearsal for the upcoming production of "The Nutcracker" ballet by the Alameda Civic Ballet Co.

During this session, 20 girls who will play gingersnap dancers were becoming familiar with their routines after emerging from beneath a ballet barre.
