Ballet school students are eager to dance their roles in Nutcracker

For the past two years, Samantha Powers danced in her ballet school's annual production of the Nutcracker, always hoping that one day she would be cast as Clara.

"When I saw everyone else who's done Clara, I always wished it could be me," said Powers, 12, of Hollywood.

Now, her wish has come true. Powers will take the stage in her dream role when she performs the holiday favorite with other students from the Fort Lauderdale Ballet Classique on Thursday and Friday at Bailey Concert Hall on the Broward Community College Central Campus in Davie.
