Holiday classic Nutcracker gets a new ethnic flavormore
By LAUREN HEIST
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel
"You all know how to do the wiggle wiggle?"
Choreographer Todd McGowan addresses the question to the mirror in the dance studio at the African American Research Center in Fort Lauderdale, looking back at the seven girls in sweats and leotards behind him.
Shauntavia Dawkins, 16, giggles and shows off the move; she gets on the balls of her bare feet and moves her knees in and out.
It's not a movement you usually see in The Nutcracker, but then again, this isn't the usual Nutcracker.
