Ballet Internationale has sights set on tour of China
By Whitney Smith for The Indianaoplis Star

Ballet Internationale's focus on China at this time of year is usually limited to a brief specialty dance in the second act of "The Nutcracker."

This year, the Asian nation will figure much more prominently in the life of the Indianapolis dance company, as more than two dozen dancers prepare for a five-week, 11-city Chinese tour in late December and January.

With Ballet Internationale leaving for the Orient on Christmas Day -- just three days after its local production of "The Nutcracker" closes -- the company's attention has been divided, to say the least.

The staff has been aiming to present an especially traditional edition of the annual holiday show, while gearing up for the far less predictable adventure overseas.
