Tuzer Ballet's 'Nutcracker' goes beyond kid-friendly
Children dance many of the roles, too
By MARGARET PUTNAM / Special Contributor to The Dallas Morning News

When all else fails, punt. Tuzer Ballet, whose Nutcracker opened Saturday afternoon at McFarlin Auditorium, has never had quite enough dancers to fill in the gaps. In particular, it's short of adults to dance for the first-act party scene. Children take their place. Fortunately, the children are up to it, with what seems like dozens of girls in frills and a raft of boys.
This also puts the child heroine Clara (in this version called Marie) into the forefront. Looking fresh and excited, 12-year-old Angela Kenny dances through the party and all the way through the Kingdom of the Sweets.
click for more
