Hartford's "Nutcracker" has finally come home.

When Kirk Peterson was hired in 1992 as artistic director of the Hartford Ballet, he began a yearslong process of creating a new "Nutcracker" for the professional, resident dance company. In his fifth year in 1997, with sumptuous new sets and costumes and the evening-long choreography complete, "The American Nutcracker" made its debut - in the midst of a snowstorm - to great acclaim.
