Nutcracker with a European spin

The long-anticipated Edmonton debut of the Kyiv Ballet's production of The Nutcracker is worth the wait. For years the company has been touring North America with members of Edmonton's Ukrainian Shumka Dancers as special guests. With the closing of the Jubilee Auditorium for upgrading, the Alberta Ballet company has chosen not to perform its annual production this year, leaving the door open for the Kyiv/Shumka pairing on the Shoctor stage of the Citadel.
