A new-look Nutcracker By ERIC HASTIE for The Gainsville Sun
There are many staples during Gainesville's holiday season ... Christmas trees ... candy canes ... the Nutcracker ballet.
The timeless story of the Nutcracker, one of several precious holiday traditions in North Central Florida each winter, will dance its way onto the stage of the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts this weekend, promising an exciting evening for young and old alike.
"It's a homecoming for a number of dancers, and we've got new people, too. We are very excited," says Judy Skinner, executive director and resident choreographer for Dance Alive!, the Gainesville dance company that will perform the ballet.
