<B>'Nutcracker' as You Remember It</B>
Washington Ballet's Traditional Treat

The Washington Ballet's "Nutcracker" functions more as historical icon than as contemporary ballet. The version, first performed in 1961 with choreography by the legendary Mary Day, follows a straightforward narrative with no updated funky twists. But despite its predictability, the company's opening performance Friday at the Warner Theatre was well worth a stop during the holiday season.
