Charm and class set apart Irving 'Nutcracker' staging
By MARGARET PUTNAM for The Dallas Morning News

IRVING – Poor mice. They're so tiny and scared, hardly any use to the Rat King. New World Ballet and Collin County Theatre's Nutcracker, a joint production, brought in the usual large assortment of mice to enhance the battle scene, but they trembled so, they were no threat to Clara, the child heroine. They whimpered and shook even before the toy soldiers' cannon went off.
Every Nutcracker is the same, and yet every one is different. This one, performed Thursday night at the Dupree Theater, was sweet and regal.
The sweetness came through even in the battle scene, for the mice were so delicate we worried for their safety.
click for more
