RAPID CITY - The Moscow Ballet is hosting local auditions for the group's performance of "The Great Russian Nutcracker" in December at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center theater.
The show, scheduled for 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, will incorporate 60 local children into the performance. Natalia Nikolivana Getman, a graduate of the Kirov School of Dance in St. Petersburg, Russia, will direct the children.
Producer Akiva Talmi said the touring company would cast 12 children for roles in five dance scenes in Act 1 as party children, mice, angels and snowflakes, and in Act 2 as pages in Russian, Arabian, French, Chinese and Spanish divertissements.
