Pliés and jetés were the order of the day yesterday, when 530 ballet dancers gathered at Canal Walk Shopping Centre to stage the biggest official ballet class ever held in an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record.

Sporting leotards, tights and ballet shoes, the professional and amateur dancers from 37 ballet schools in the Western Cape showcased their graceful moves in a 50-minute ballet class, as an initiative of Cape Town City Ballet.
