And the answer is...
Winners and losers, hits and flops — a culture quiz that takes its cue from events of the past year, from The Times

OPERA & DANCE — DOUBLES

7 Which famous dance duo teamed up with the ballet superstar Sylvie Guillem at Sadler’s Wells this autumn?

End of year film quiz
From The Guardian

Do you know your Dawn of the Dead from your Shaun of the Dead, your Shrek 2 from your Uzak 1? Tackle our epic quiz on the last 12 months; if you get more than 20 right, you'll get the chance to win 10 each of the best books, DVDs and CDs of the year, as chosen by Word magazine.

I will not be winning a prize as I received the accolade:

"Oh dear. How on earth did you manage to sit through 30 questions about film, a subject in which you demonstrate a clear lack of interest?"

"You scored 11 out of a possible 30
Oh so close. You're no slouch, but you've fallen just short of the standards required to get you into the prize draw. To do better next year, we prescribe regular doses of Guardian Unlimited Film."

Not bad, I suppose, considering I actually only knew 1 answer.

I got 12 right (and got the same comments as djb) but since I guessed for most of them for me it's sort of more a measure of how well you cando with random answers....

I don't feel like taking the test again, so do you recall whether you only got your score, or were you shown which answers were correct? I'd really like to know the answer to this one:

Quote:
"It's a very good film, you should go see it." President Bush, recommending which subtitled, art-house movie from 2004?
It would be interesting to see what the average score is in a test group of non-film buffs. It would also be interesting to see how a test group of non-dance buffs would score on a similar test about dance.

ys, they do give you the correct answer ("Osama" was the answer, btw.)

I don't think I see much in the way of films, but I had seen two or three of the ones mentioned...

Well, I knwe the answer ( at least I think they are correct) to 3 questions from the Times quiz. Are all the answers posted somewhere?
1 Billy & Michael danced with Sylvie
2 Play without words based on the Servant
3 Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is the debut book.

You're so good at guessing, corrival, that I might get you to look at some lists of runners in horse races.
