Bare (almost) all in the name of burlesque

One of the highlights of last week's London Fashion Week was Jade Jagger's party. "Even seasoned partygoers Claudia Schiffer, Nicky Haslam and Lady Victoria Hervey were shocked at the entertainment," according to the London Evening Standard. Dita von Teese, the current girlfriend of US rocker Marilyn Manson, was brought in to perform her teasing burlesque routine. She began with "the coy removal of a frothy tulle skirt" and progressed until "only a pair of nipple tassels were left". She rounded off the act by jumping into a woman-size martini glass.

This sort of thing may soon become nothing to raise an eyebrow at if a recent edition of Time is anything to go by. In a feature about what to expect from the future, the magazine exclaimed: "Burlesque will be cool. The tassels, the twirling, the peek-a-boo burlesque is coming back."
