I was surfing for music, feeling kinda Balkan, when I happened across this:
Black Sea Surf Quote:
The world's first--yes, I'm sure of it--surf song in a Bulgarian kopanitsa rhythm.
Maybe this won’t have any significance for you if you’ve never done any Bulgarian folk dancing, but I thought it was a hoot. (A kopanitsa is a fast dance whose rhythm is – as the folk dancers break it down – quick-quick-slow-quick-quick. Its western musical breakdown is 1-2, 1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2, 1-2, or 11/16.)
And I disagree with the arranger that his version of
Tequila is "thoroughly un-danceable on any planet." You just need to be able to dance in non-duple meters.
