Last night we went to the California Center for the Arts in Escondido, and saw a performance by the National Orchestra of Spain.
What a treat!!! If they are coming to your area, try to see them.
They had three items on their program one of which was a Brahms symphony, but the highlight of the evening was Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez. It's a really marvelous concerto for full orchestra and classical guitar. I am sure most of you are familiar with it. I had the pleasure of dancing to the adagio section which is truly a marvelous experience.
The music just carries one away......
I love watching the percussion section - they had five percussionists. I haven't a prayer of having a sound come out of a violin, but I could really picture having fun with the kettle drums, bells, triangles, cymbals, castenets, tambourines....wouldn't that be fun just clanging around with all that stuff?
