From the New York Times:
WHERE FOOLS SUFFERED GLADLY

quote:
LAS VEGAS -- CLOWNS are walking catalogs of human imperfection, and comedy is the chronicle of their struggle to survive. With oversize shoes and trousers to match their Rabelaisian appetites, these slapstick warriors battle relentlessly against cream pies and pomposity. Their pants fall down to reveal knock-knees and ridiculous underwear. Their bodies flop face first into dung-scented sawdust. But despite the humiliations, clowning is an art in which the well-timed collapse of dignity is rewarded by the audience's laughter, a soothing and addictive sound that provides incentive to persevere in a war that pits red noses against etiquette and common sense.

There is a lot of dance in the work of a clown. Charlie Chaplin was a great admirer of dance and there was a great deal of dance and grace in his movement.
Zoe - maybe if you said it was a hot topic then everyone would join in........
Which can lead one to ask - what is the difference between a topic being "hot" or "cool"?
