Today's San Francisco Chronicle reports on the discovery of a rare millipede in San Benito County. The species has not been seen in California for 80 years. While most species of millipedes (despite the name) have about 300 legs, this inch-long female has a total of 666  legs (was it found on June 6 2006?) The article points out that this critter "has got more legs than the members of the California Legislature, the Oakland Raiders and the San Francisco Ballet combined".

(See, there IS a dance connection)[/i]

Here's the article, with pictures. Despite this creature's legginess, I don't see much future for it as a dancer, as it's legs are so short.

If we want someone to choreograph for I. plenipes' 666 legs, then it has to be NYCB's Benjamin Millepied.
