Post subject: The REAL Thoughts of Famous Ballet Teachers

After interviewing the world's most famous ballet teachers I have come up with a compilation of their true thoughts during ballet class:
Maybe this kid really should have taken up trumpet.
Of course I don't mind demonstrating double reverse' on pointe.
I guess I should have mentioned the pole in the middle of the studio.............
Maybe I should just let them vote on the choreography.
If I make the barre extra hard, maybe they will get tired out.
Demi contre temps takes a while to learn, for this kid about ten years.
You did it perfectly - but I am not going to tell you that - don't want you to get a swelled head.
Give me your tired your poor...........
Ask not what the ballet can do for you , but what are you doing here?
I regret this kid has but one life to give for the ballet.
[This message has been edited by Basheva (edited October 20, 2000).]

Elmo - good!!! so - that is how a ballet teacher reaches divinity - how wonderful !!
I hereby forgive all of my students who claimed their knee was tight in pique' turns (but it really wasn't).

Some further thoughts of teachers in ballet class:
-No, use your "other" right foot.
-Where did you get that atrocious leotard, Victoria's Secret catalogue?
-I can't tell, is that leg turned out or parallel?
-It's really a pity, but when the teacher's sweating more than the student, you know there's a problem!

Oh dear!! how many times I said that, Grace!! "I know how to do this". - and knowing full well that I would be back in class the next day working on it myself. HA HA HA Sometimes I would say : "I am still working on this - I think you need to, too".
I also often said: "Ballet is very fair - you work, you progess - NO ONE, NO ONE - comes into a studio and automatically knows how to do it. Everyone, even those with the greatest gifts, still have to work for it. The grestest ballet dancers in the world are hard at work this very minute".
Children were very impressed to think they were working on the same stuff as the ballerinas.
