Sir - On Saturday night I watched the Tattoo on television and what a fine performance it was too! But why did it have to be ruined by that dreadful exhibition of the twist? A tattoo is a military display to the accompaniment of stirring music by massed bands and the pipes and drums. What has the twist got to do with that?

Stuart, this seems to be a real "twist" of events. It is interesting that the teenager thought that it was not the right place and time to do this but that they liked the "twist."

bg2, are you surprised that the teenager liked the twist? It was 1962, after all. Or were you surprised that a teenage should have a sense of decorum?

Hi djb, I wasn't surprised because it was 1962. I just thought that it was interesting in an ironic sort of way.
