Here's my letter to the online Editor:
The anonymous Style Guide guru who compiled your Online Style Guide clearly knows little about the Arts. We are urged to use "Maryinsky (not Mariinsky, despite internet evidence to the contrary)". How about direct evidence from the theatre: "The Mariinsky Theatre extends its grateful thanks to..." from an official publication.
Possibly even worse, we are told to use "Arts Council". I wonder if this
refers to the Arts Council of Vanuatu, as if it concerns the UK, we have
to use "Arts Council England" or "Scottish Arts Council" to avoid much confusion, as well as for stylistic correctitude.
Do get a grip!

Maybe they were referring to Mary Insky -- she lived down the street from me in high school and had, shall we say, a "reputation".
