Post subject:  Is it OK to work my legs after Surgery?

I am going to be having a minor surgery in the beginning of January, and the doctor has warned me that I will not be able to do any work with my arms for about a month. Is it inapropriate or rude to ask to attend my ballet classes and just do leg and foot work? I want to keep working with my legs for that month, to keep strenght, tone, flexibility, and general practice, but I do not want to offend anyone, especially my teacher. Is this considered bad form?

Hello, Skaltervox...I think it would be wise to consult your doctor about any physical activity or exercise post-surgery. Only do what your doctor advises. In ballet class, you need to hold onto the barre. You also need your arms for balance. So, perhaps there is something else you can do to keep your legs in shape. Ask your physical therapist for some ideas... :)
