Post subject:  DEVELOPPE ???

I was wondering if anyone knew of any training or exercises that help in doing DEVELOPPE'S?

Hello...Sometimes, it is helpful to lie on the floor and execute developpes, on the back for devant and on the side for a la seconde. If someone offers a "floor barre" at your school, it might be fun to try it...This way, gravity is working more for you than against you! I used to enjoy practicing developpes in the swimming pool, too.

Working on torso stength and also control on the *supporting* side. Like Gina, I've also done many ballet steps or exercises whilst in the pool and it's a great way to do many of these! 8)

i had troubles with mine and all i did was repeat them over and over usually while watching tv or something but they are a lot better right now (well above where they used to be) so that is what i would recommend.

And be sure to continue to "rotate" the leg while it's unfolding. Don't allow yourself to hold it neutrally, rather think of it as a continuous rond de jambe, so to speak. Perhaps think of your heel as continually in motion, turning itself to the audience as the leg unfurls.

This will aid in dropping the hip and keeping yourself "placed" while aligning the leg to the side.

Front and back are similar in that the leg needs to continue to turnout -- as an "activity" and not merely as a "look." 8)
