Post subject:  poise

I would be very interested to hear from everyone what "poise of the head" means to them.

To me it is the carriage of the head, held slightly higher with eyes lifted, neck lengthened? Would I be correct in saying this? :)

Absolutely right, spangles...Webster's Dictionary says "The bearing of the head or body...A state of hovering or being suspended"...I think you have described this well... :)

Thank you Gina. I think showing good poise and carriage of the head also relates to posture, placement and alignment also. It also gives the dancer the look of confidence. A look that indeeds says - Look At Me! Which is what we as dancers all strive for (I hope) :D
