Hello JennyB22 - welcome to the board - glad you have joined us.
Has your teacher given her permission for you to be on pointe?
Here is a thread you might want to read:
POINTE - ASSESSING READINESS
I also do not have very arched feet, but it is possible to work with feet that are not highly arched. However, it is also true that there are some feet that are positively unworkable - those that have truly no arch at all.
One of the best ways to work on improving both the flexibility and strength of your feet is through tendu. So simple - and yet such a wonderful exercise for the feet if done correctly. Use the floor as an isometric exercise. Fully articulate your feet every time. Here is another thread that might help:
TENDU - A WASTE OF TIME?
And another:
Tendu
You need to be able to get fully up on your platforms, with straight knees. Anything less is not acceptable - both for your safety and for the ability to dance on pointe.
I have always started beginners in Capezio Contemporas - but that is really the decision of your teacher. Have you spoken to her - what does she say?
