http://meltingpot.fortunecity.com/guam/549/victoria/vic02.jpg
First off, lets give Phylidia Crowly Smith (who's portraying Victoria in this picture) a BIG hand!!
Now here's my question, or rather, questionS. What is the technical name for this? I can almost do this. I have the flexibility, but I'm extreamly lacking in the strength area. What muscles are being used, and how can I improve them? Thanks guys!
------------------
Smooches and Pooches!
~Athena

I don't know for sure, but it must be an action picture and she's doing a grand battement a la seconde on 3/4 point.

nope - that didn't work either.....

that's all I see when I get to that website - I don't get any action picture.
If she is doing a grand battement a la seconde on 3/4 pointe ...that is indeed hard to do, but not impossible.
The most important thing there is correct alignment. The standing hip must be absolutely solid. The rib cage can't move, and the working hip must not lift or tilt.
Also the dancer must be centered over the forepart of the standing foot, not leaning back at all. It is truly a test of strength, alignment, and stretch. We used to do those all the time in the center, en croix. How, well I remember.....ha ha
[This message has been edited by Basheva (edited May 18, 2001).]
